What we’re in love with this week:

Summer trends are still going strong, and with that there are some current sunny trends that we have fallen in love with.

Bright, saturated colors:  Everything from nail polish, to accessories to pants is showing the heavy influence of color blocking in the with the summer trend.  Although designers introduced this trend years ago, in the 80s and early 90s, there is a much more modern spin that they have put on what once could be considered a dated look.  Design houses such as Chanel, Gucci and Prada were leading the runways with color.  Even the designer’s ready to wear collections are showing the major influence of bright bold blocks of color.  The use of color has trickled down from clothing into accessories and make-up as well.  While some style sites suggest that for the common person it is not economical to update a closet every season, design houses including Chanel and Prada for instance, make this trend easy to follow through adding up to date accessories to your closet, or even doing something as simple as changing nail color.  These design houses tend to set the trend for that season, and everything comes down to even mass market items.  A more affordable accessory might include a bright Michael Kors watch; which will instantly update the clothes you currently have to appear up to date with what’s on trend this season.

Color blocking can be a relatively easy and fun trend to follow.  You may add bits of color through your accessories; or even play with blocking some pieces you currently have in your closet with the addition of a belt, some colorful shoes, a bag, or a colorful skirt.

Bright colors have been the most popular in color blocking this season, but there are also neutral and muted tones, which are being blocked as well.  The most exciting thing about color blocking is that even with the simplest, slightest additions of color you will be able to wake up your wardrobe, and appear fresh, and bright for the long summer days that are still ahead.  Happy blocking!
